Objectives: The aims of this study were to evaluate mesiodistal tooth size and arch length changes with age, as well as, to analyze its sexual dimorphism. Material and methods: One hundred eighty-eight Spanish individuals of three chronological age groups –adolescents, young adults and adults– were selected for this study. Mesiodistal tooth size and arch length were measured on each individual’s dental cast using a digital method. Results: The results showed that mesiodistal tooth size and arch length are greater in males, as well as, a decrease in mesiodistal tooth size with age and an arch length change after eruption of permanent teeth. Conclusions: There is a decrease in mesiodistal tooth size with age from adolescence to adulthood, especially in females. Arch length decrease from adolescence to adulthood, but in males this diminution is only significant for the lower arch.  (Rev Esp Ortod. 2010;40(3):141-150)
