It is clear that the published evidence supporting the use of CBCT for many if not most of the diagnostic tasks for which we might use this technology is weak or absent. This is in large part because CBCT is a new technology and it will take time for research validation to catch up with the market place. In the interim period clinicians must rely on good practice so that CBCT examinations are prescribed judiciously for our patients.  (Rev Esp Ortod. 2011;41(1):005-016)
