Distraction osteogenesis is a relatively new technique that has gained popularity as a treatment for craniofacial skeleton. The first clinical application has been used for treatment in hemifacial microsomia patient. This report presents the results of distraction osteogenesis using multiplanar extraoral device in patient with growth facial asymmetry that revealed a hypoplasic mandible type II A (Pruzansky).  (Rev Esp Ortod. 2001;31(2):121-127)
