Extraction debate. Part II. Put the plasters on the table

2009, Volumen 39, Número 2
José María Llamas Carreras
Profesor Asociado de Ortodoncia. Universidad de Sevilla

This second part concerns historically fracture of expansion paradigm borned under Angle’s new school. Extraccionist strategy for malocclusions appears following the great use of edgewise mechanics. In this way, Angle’s expansionist position was defeated with the help of his latest and best in orthodontia. This unquiet period finished in a real extraccionist paradigm, leadered by Tweed, with such lack of flexibility that needed a posterior adjustment made in a light extraccionist era, as we will see in a third part, that will be published later  (Rev Esp Ortod. 2009;39(2):103-114)

Key words:
Extractions. Historical debate. Epistemology. Angle. Case. Tweed.
