Over the last decade the facial analysis has become essential for the orthodontic diagnosis. But the part of the face that has been highlighted the last years is the most important one: the smile. Given the fact that the smile design affects all parts of dentistry, it is a multidisciplinary item. Once said that, the aim of this paper is to describe a practical smile mesh which will allow one to study and design the smile from a point of view common to all the adontologics areas.  (Rev Esp Ortod. 2004;34(3):193-200)
