Scientific truths and bioprogressive theory

2002, Volumen 32, Número 2
Robert M. Ricketts
Ortodoncista. Práctica privada. USA

New developments with bioprogressive were based on problems with other theories. Arguments on anchorage and possibilities underlie disagreements with needed evidenced based information for solution. Orthodontic possibilities indicated that distal movement of molars was available and intrusion of teeth could be commonplace. Orthopedic possibilities lie principally in the maxilla in the three planes of space and possibly in the mandible in vertical posterior dimension. Therapeutic ideal finishing holds distinct advantages. The appropiate bracket formula was described. Total facial esthetics is a present goal. Arch forms have been developed as practice guides. The mandible has been proved to grow on an arc which makes long range prediction possible.  (Rev Esp Ortod. 2002;32(2):108)

Key words:
