An aspect the orthodontist should not forget along
the orthodontic treatment is the possibility of excessive
root resorption to appear. Its presence is hardly
predictable, since there is a high individual variability
in tendency to show it, and the existence of a
number of factors that may increase the potential of
suffering this iatrogenic damage.
The aim of this paper is to synthesize in a didactic
way the most relevant aspects of root resorption
reported in the orthodontic literature.
