Risk factors predisposing to root resorption during orthodontic treatment

2000, Volumen 30, Número 4
Tomás Sastre Alzamora
Ortodoncista de práctica exclusiva. Palma de Mallorca

An aspect the orthodontist should not forget along the orthodontic treatment is the possibility of excessive root resorption to appear. Its presence is hardly predictable, since there is a high individual variability in tendency to show it, and the existence of a number of factors that may increase the potential of suffering this iatrogenic damage. The aim of this paper is to synthesize in a didactic way the most relevant aspects of root resorption reported in the orthodontic literature.  (Rev Esp Ortod. 2000;30(4):351-363)
