The aim of this article is to analyse the different methods of expansion that we have today in the upper arch, taking in mind
factors such as the age of the patient and the dental or skeletal effects that the clinician wants to obtain.
We conclude that, having the same objective, we act in different ways for different ages, and that, at the same stage of maduration,
we can afford different types of expansion.
